Although this does not pertain to trading DVDs, I felt it should be posted in this forum because it is the most active. From this article: It turns out that hundreds of DVD titles manufactured by the entertainment giant between 2006 and 2008 have succumbed to a long-known phenomenon called “disc rot,” a deterioration in a DVD’s condition that results in freezing, glitches, or complete failure during playback. The good news is that the company has acknowledged the problem and is offering replacements — though not refunds — for affected discs. But only if the movie is still in print, and so long as Warner Bros. still has the rights to the title. The issue appears to affect a wide range of titles, including classic Hollywood movies such as Stanley Kubrick: Director’s Series edition of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Superman movies up to Superman Returns, and popular TV series like Looney Tunes Collections and Batman: The Animated Series. Here is a list of known affected movies. One of the articles included this statement: "Consumers with affected product can contact the customer support team at whv@wbd.com." It has been about a month and I have not gotten a response from WB. Has anyone else tried to contact WB about this issue? |

I have attempted to look for a "more extesive" list, with no luck. Now I guess I will have to go through my extensive library, looking for the little WB emblem. |

This is concerning since I own thousands of DVDs. To see how serious this may be, I just looked through a shelf of, alphbatized older ones that we didn't watch yet. The shelf is holding 468 random movies. Out of those 468, I was amazed to see that there are only 10 Warner Brothers titles mixed in. More surprising yet, before I read this thread, I mentioned “The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward By the Coward Robert Ford” on a different thread this morning. It turns out that movie is one of those 10. The odds of that movie being one of the 10 is approximently 1 in 468. The odds of that particular movie being on that shelf is staggering. The odds of me typing that movie title twice today is still being calculated using top of the line technology and we should have a fairly acurate numer someday. Anyway, I hope the percentage of all of the WB movies we all own in all is extremely low. |

I searched again yesterday for where to contact WB regarding this issue and everywhere gave the same address as above. Even the FAQ on the site warnerbros.com website shows:
I wrote them again (4/13). As of 4/27, I still have not received a response. Last Edited on: 4/28/25 9:31 PM EST - Total times edited: 2 |
