This is a good film, but the constant breaks in story time lose viewer interest. 0 of 3 member(s) found this review helpful. ![]() Reviewed on 2/4/2010... I loved this movie. Based on true story, but hard to believe how diffcult it was to solve the Zodiac killings. Excellent true crime film. You feel the frustration of the detectives and reporters as they face many roadblocks during the investigation. Creepy and unsettling at times. I felt it was a bit long, but so was the actual investiation! 1 of 1 member(s) found this review helpful. ![]() Reviewed on 3/5/2009... Good movie 1 of 3 member(s) found this review helpful.
Movie ReviewsDisappointing and disquieting police failure Jacques COULARDEAU | OLLIERGUES France | 07/22/2010 (4 out of 5 stars) "A real criminal, a real serial killer and his "adventures". What makes this story interesting is the fact that the police never succeeded and never arrested the killer, in spite of the help of the media in San Francisco. It all amounted to circumstantial evidence and no indictment, not to mention conviction, was ever pronounced, hence no suspect declared and arrested. The case can come out today because all those who were suspected to have played a role in this sinister story are dead or out of the way. That will not change anything anyway because the case is now closed since the main yet undeclared suspect is dead. The real question is to know whether the police, the various police departments concerned did their job properly, if the inspectors did theirs and if their hierarchy supported them. It's always difficult to say especially with the role of the Attorney general or public prosecutor in the area. There are so many elements that may stop an investigation in the USA, particularly elections since the main characters in security forces are elected and local officials are the bosses of the Police. A lot can be said and a lot can be done, or undone or just not done. And that seems to be the case here. The film is slightly slow though and the attempt to dramatize it does not succeed entirely. Seth Grace | 09/15/2010 (4 out of 5 stars) "David Fincher did a fine job with his portrayal of the serial killer "the Zodiac" in this film. After researching this story extensively this movie really rang true and depicted the events in an authentic and true fashion. Jake Gyllenhaal gives a really good performance as the lead and Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo both give fine supporting performances. I think there was less hype about this movie and it was underrated because young people were probably expecting something graphic like SE7EN, when this is a more in depth unfolding of a story than a blood and guts movie. In any event it is a commonly overlooked film that is extremely well made and it will have you engaged from start to finish with twists and turns."
