Ann Burden (Margot Robbie) thinks she is the lone human survivor of a nuclear disaster. Being raised on a farm has fitted her with the survival skills she needs, but with only her trusty dog, the rest of her life looks to be a lonely business. Enter John Loomis (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a fellow survivor who weathered the apocalypse in an underground bunker before wandering onto Ann's family farm. A tentative friendship is struck up as the two begin working together for their mutual good. As time goes on, their relationship deepens. When a third survivor, Caleb (Chris Pine), finds his way to the property, Ann and John are forced to navigate emotional undercurrents neither is well-equipped to handle. In the process, issues of social class, race, and religion are touched upon in low-key, believable ways. Not your average post-apocalyptic storyline, with an ending that asks as many questions as it answers.

A very well-done apocalypse drama about trusting others. Three survivors just trying to get along in an empty world.

Solid suspenseful apocalyptic plotline that did not really end well.
