He is received by his younger brother Jorge, who is now a doctor, and his father, who does not recognize him because of his long absence. Juan visits the local church and recalls the night that he and Jorge, leaving the church, saw their mother run down and killed by a couple of drunken men racing their horses. The brothers swore to avenge their mother, but Jorge has lost his thirst for vengeance and the brothers quarrel. Juan and his buddy get drunk and go to a party in honor of Susana, Jorge?s girlfriend.
