Movie ReviewsThe Skinny on Lizzy 07/04/2005 (4 out of 5 stars) "Basically, this DVD chroniciles the emergence of Lizzy Borden in XPW. This is the first time I'd gotten a glimpse of XPW, but that being said, it's not half bad. First off, it shows Lizzy fighting different chicks trying to make names for themselves in XPW. The announcers are a little goofy, and I swear that I thought I was hallucinating when that one dude screamed when an explosion went off near Lizzy. It didn't even sound human. Of course, the camera work and audience (or lack thereof) was quite apparent on the West Coast. Enter Shane Douglas. Douglas wins the title and moves XPW to the historic ECW Arena in Philidelphia, PA. At that point, I forgot what I was watching. We get treated to a twenty minute Shane Douglas match, and when it was over, my initial thought was "Hey, XPW rocks! Wait...what am I watching? Isn't this supposed to be a Lizzy Borden DVD?" Then, Lizzy Borden gives us ten minutes of stripping but, to be honest, I was busy looking up other XPW releases that took place in the ECW Arena. There's something about that place that brings out the best in people. Anyway, if you're curious about XPW, this release gives you a brief pseudo-history with the somewhat twisted Lizzy Borden as your tour guide. I'll be clear that this is no ECW, but these guys really put some effort into it." It is full of clips from matches that a fan might like, but I bought it strictly for the front row, clothes-free view of Lizzy Borden. Wow! She is hot, though I really would have liked to see more of her (is there ever enough). The scene with her in the bath tub is worth the price of admission.
