"My wife, who is experienced in yoga, wanted to introduce me to yoga poses and routines. Since I've never done yoga before, she decided to get me started with Yoga For Wimps. The DVD, overall, is well done. The directions are clear, and the poses are easy for beginners. The best feature for most people will likely be that each pose has an easier, modified form using support objects like chairs, pillows, and towels. This really can be done by anyone of nearly any fitness level (or lack thereof). However, while I'm not exactly a fine speciment of fitness, I found that even the unmodified poses, for the most part, were easily performed. When combined together into the 25 minute workout included in the DVD, the poses and the workout are completed easily. After only two workouts, I feel as though this DVD is far too 'beginner' for me, and I'm ready to try something more advanced. However, anyone who has not exercised in a long time might find the challenge level of Yoga For Wimps suits them just fine. My wife's one complaint is that this DVD does not cover any of the meditative aspects of yoga, so those looking for a more spiritual approach should look elsewhere."
Excellent for Beginners

"If I had to pick one workout for beginners, this would be the workout. Not only are the exercises modified especially well, the pace is slower and beginners have time to move the chair, pillow or towel. In many beginner workouts, there isn't enough time to adapt to the new pose or exercise. Annika Carlson presents the exercises in such a way as to encourage even the newest yoga enthusiast to actively participate in all the exercises.
Annika Carlson takes you through 25 Yoga poses. You can learn to do each pose in the Bonus Yoga Pose section or even workout to just music. The poses all flow from one to the other in a smooth fashion. You will find yourself back in child's pose more frequently than intermediate workouts.
You will learn:
Mountain Pose
Side Bends
Shoulder Rolls
Reaching for the Stars
Chair Pose
Sun Salutation
Table Pose
Plank
Child's Pose
Downward Facing Dog
Pre-Headstand
Moving Cat
Lunge
Warrior I
Pyramid Pose
Elbow Side Plank
Plank Hover
Tree Pose
Warrior II
Triangle Pose
Side Angle Pose
Arm Stretches
Boat Pose
Archer Pose
Bound Angle Pose
A chair, pillow and towel help to modify the exercises. If you are a beginner I can highly recommend this to you. You will be in love with Yoga in no time at all. If you enjoy this workout, you may also want to try Crunch Candlelight Yoga in the evenings.

Moves too quickly

"The instructor in this video moves through poses way too quickly to gain any flexibility through them or to even understand what you should be doing in the pose. Moving through the stretches so quickly without getting deep into any of them was frustrating."
It is not just for Wimps!

"The dvd was very helpful and I still use it on a regular basis. She does not take for granted you know anything about yoga and speaks in english. She is very clear and fun to listen to. I also have the Pilates for Wimps and love it as well!
This is great for anyone trying Yoga for the first time and is unsure if they can do it! I recommend it whole heartedly!!!!"
Only one workout

"I'm not so thrilled with this dvd. Why is there only one 30 min workout on it? It's so basic and such a tiny sample of what yoga is.
The good thing about it is that even if you are very stiff (like me) you can do everything she shows you. There are 2 people doing all the moves - the super flexible rubber lady and the lady on the raised platform showing the modified version of "rubber lady's" moves.
I just think that a beginner's dvd on yoga should be more thorough like "Yoga for Inflexible People" which is FULL of workouts for each part of your body.
I have the book called "Yoga for Wimps" which is excellent, but this dvd is substandard and nothing like the book!"
