Member Movie Reviews![]() Reviewed on 2/5/2022... I wasn't sure I could sit through the entire movie about a woman on a mountain journey, but Reese Witherspoon played the role well. 0 of 1 member(s) found this review helpful. ![]() Reviewed on 2/1/2018... Reese Witherspoon was nominated for an Academy Award for this movie done in 2015. While she did not actually win the Oscar, she did display many different sides of the true-life character that she portrayed. She also produced the movie, so it could be said that she was deeply invested in the overall quality and makeup of this production. To set the tone and tenor of the need for the main character (Witherspoon) to take on the challenge of hiking the 1000+ mile Pacific Crest Trail alone, there are multiple flashbacks that assist in qualifying this bold and at times obviously unprepared journey. There are many mixed emotions that ebb and flow during the watching of this movie. It is somewhat satisfying to know via the enclosed booklet that accompanies the Blu ray disc, composed by the original author of the book (Cheryl Strayed) upon which this movie was crafted, that there is notable reconciliation and substantial remodeling of her troubled lifestyle that pushed her to the edge both literally and figuratively before and during the hiking quest. Magnificently beautiful and at times majestic scenery portrayed in the film adds value to Strayed's journey, and serves to justify to some degree to the viewer why this Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is so alluring to many a hiker, despite its intimidating nature at times. I found myself attracted to the raw wilderness, even contemplating an abbreviated hike of my own along segments of the PCT to perhaps experience in realtime the natural beauty displayed. The "R-rated" classification is definitely justified in its rating, clearly marking this not a family-oriented film. 0 of 1 member(s) found this review helpful. ![]() Reviewed on 11/10/2017... Started out slow, picked up nicely but slow during the last 20 minutes or so. Reese did a good acting job but I think fans remember her do you know who I am incident. 2 of 2 member(s) found this review helpful.
