Movie Reviews

Long-standing Wiggles fans need not apply

"You'll have noticed by now that The Wiggles don't list the songs on their DVDs on sale here at good old Amazon. This is because you'll know right away that instead of the fresh new album you think you're buying, it's just another rehash, dressed up in different clothing.

Here's what's on this one (check the Hit Entertainment site if you don't believe me - I didn't believe it myself):

Big Red Boat

Dressing Up

Fruit Salad

Get Ready to Wiggle

D.O.R.O.T.H.Y., My Favorite Dinosaur

Captains' Magic Buttons

Let's Go (We're Riding in the Big Red Car)

I Climb Ten Stairs

I Wave My Arms and Swing My Baton

Do The Owl

Nicky Nacky Nocky Noo

Move Your Arms Like Henry

Ponies

Move Like an Emu

Little Brown Ant

Captain Feathersword Fell Asleep On His Pirate Ship

Wiggly Party

Say Ahh At The Doctors

Hats

There are also the usual bonus TV episodes.

If you own all the early DVDs and Wiggly Safari and Wiggly Party and so on, there's no need to put yourself out for this one. As for the "learning Spanish" part - well the less said the better. A couple of new songs and some old ones sung in Spanish do not a new DVD make.

If you're new to The Wiggles, go with Toot Toot, Yummy Yummy and Wake Up Jeff instead. If you've been with them during the good old days when they were putting out new stuff, don't disappoint yourself.

SPLISH SPLASH WITH THE WIGGLES!

"I was a little reluctant to buy this video since SAILING AROUND THE WORLD got so many poor reviews. But my 3 and 6 year olds really wanted it,and we are pretty big WIGGLES enthusiasts(we have 16 of their releases)I relented.Imust say I'm glad I did.Even though a majority of the songs are ones we've known in the past, the scenery is different and they are quite entertaining. The Captain's crew make a few apprarances, but they aren't too unbearable. There are a few skits at WIGGLE HOUSE which are always my favorite parts. The 2 best include one where the WIGGLES go overboard gathering things for a picnic and another where Anthony loses his (gasp!)appetite. There is very little dancing done by the WIGGLES themselves, which I really miss.Do they feel like they're getting too old? There are 4 songs of the animated WIGGLES singing in spanish, which I would have liked if they were actually sung by the WIGGLES,but they're not.Another highlight is of the Captain on a seadoo checking out the beautiful scenery of Sydney Harbor. All in all,I would reccommend this video to fans 3 and over who are already familiar with THE WIGGLES.If you are shopping for your first video for your little ones,I would say check out WIGGLE TIME,YUMMY YUMMY,TOOT TOOT,WAKE UP JEFF and really all their earlier work.It is outstanding entertainment for kids from 2 on up to 30 something folks like me!!WIGGLE ON!!

Good stuff, even though it's recycled

"My 23 month old had no problem sitting through this one. I think it's because he recognized so many of the songs. I did not feel the skits were too long between songs, although, again, the Captain and his mates are given a little bit too much screen time. There are Spanish versions of their songs "Fruit Salad" and "Move Your Arms Like Henry", both of which are animated. The male singing the Greg part is Little Fernando (from Hoop-dee-doo Wiggly Party, Spaghetti Western, etc), who is now part of the Spanish Wiggles. Even if your child loses interest in the Spanish songs, they are quick and over before you know it. As for The Wiggles doing fewer dance moves, they are getting older and probably save a lot of their energy for the lives shows (they always give 100% there). Greg has had some problems with hernias this year, so I'm sure that's why in many of the shots he is just standing, playing guitar, or sitting down. Overall I think this video is colorful and fun, and suitable for toddlers close to two and up.

Wonderful Wiggles!

"Me and my kids love the Wiggles, and were really excited to receive this video. It was great, had lots of great music, some of the same songs, but they were all done differently with different dancing and the guys were adorable. The skits between were great, and they were their usual funny, cute selves! Two Wiggly thumbs up!"
