""When In Rome" continues the Olsen twins world tour of movies, this time taking the girls to Rome for a summer fashion internship.THE STORY:It's summer and Charlie and Leila Hunter (Mary-Kate and Ashley) earn a summer internship at an International Fashion company in Rome. Once in Rome the girls embark on a rollercoaster ride of adventure as they struggle to keep their jobs, battle off rival interns, thwart a hostile corporate takeover plot and of course engage in Romance with some cute boys.THE ANALYSIS:All in all, "When In Rome" includes all the action, adventure and romance you've come to expect from an Olsen Twins film. It's pure clean fun for the whole family.THE DVD SPECIAL FEATURES:Like most Olsen DVDs you've got a stuffed DVD features section, but unfortunately most of it is fluff. Included in the DVD special features are:1. Behind the Scenes mini-feature: 9 1/2 minute feature where the cast and crew (primarily the twins) talk about the movie, their experiences filming it, the various characters in the film and their experiences touring Rome.2. Alternate ending. I actually this ending better than the actual one...3. Trailers: The Multi-million dollar Olsen marketing machine was in full force here!!! The twins shill the following from their extensive product line:a. "When In Rome" Movie Trailerb. "Sweet 16" Videogamec. "When In Rome" Soundtrackd. Their extensive DVD/Video Cataloge. Their "So Little Time" tv series action dolls.f. Their line of booksg. The "Mary-Kate and Ashley in Action" cartoon series on ABC.h. Their website "MarykateandAshley.com" where you can get all the latest information!!!i. And finally and a "non-related" trailer, the trailer for the Scooby Doo movie (????)THE VERDICT:In all, overselling in the DVD features aside, the movie was great for a family viewing on the weekend. Olsen fans should love this installment in their ever-growing "world tour" video franchise series and parents should be pleased with another clean, quality product from America's favorite twins. Overall, not a bad addition to their franchise and a fine choice to add to your Olsen collection if your so inclined.GRADES:Film: 4 stars

Overall: 3.75 starsHighly Recommended"
They're getting better....

"I think that Mary-Kate and Ashley have really grown up and are starting to come into their own as actresses and people. I have, in the past, had quite a mouthful to say about the girls' seemingly nonstop parade of dumb and poorly made movies. With the wild and trendy names, the big-time stylish clothes, and guys galore, their films have not seemed to have much depth. But they're getting better--they really are. I have noticed that with their most recent TV series "So Little Time," as well as their new movie "When In Rome."You'll see a difference in the girls when you watch this movie. They're a lot more mature. Oh sure, they used those same ingredients from their other films for this one (the names Charli and Leila for their characters, the cool clothes, the cute boys), but Mary-Kate and Ashley also presented something that hasn't been seen as much before. They are shown as strong, well-adjusted young women with direction and good sense. Their acting style is changing for the better. They're getting older. They have, for the most part, given up that annoying giggling and screaming and have become more adult teenagers. This movie shows them as summer interns in Rome, enjoying the sights, the fun, the friends, and the guys. Sounds familiar, I know, but really this one is not as bad as some of their other movies and it is a huge improvement from their last movie "Getting There." I like the positive, more grown-up look of the Olsens, and I have a feeling that even if they stick to the same formula that they've been using, their movies are going to start getting much better. They're talented and beautiful girls who have the potential.
So, all in all, this is the first Olsen movie in a long time that I truly recommend to you."

"All i can say is that this movie is cheesier than cheese. OOOhhhh - Mary kate and Ashley get fired from a job. WOW. I'm sooooo worried now. Who gives a crap? It's the worst storyline i have EVER seen."

"Yes, I am a fan of Mary Kate and Ashley and so of course I got this DVD. The movie was all right--certainly nothing outstanding, but fun enough to watch a few times if you really like the Olsens. After watching this, however, I am thinking that maybe the girls' biggest problem with their movies is putting everything together. Their ideas are good but they're all over the place. Ok, so the movie synopsis says that the Olsens' characters (Charli and Leila) get fired from their internships in Rome and are determined to find out why. But when they get fired, they put on the so-sad act for about three minutes and then they're all of a sudden completely ok, enjoying themselves in Rome with cute guys and the whole ordeal. They certainly don't act like two girls who just got unfairly fired. It just isn't put together very well. And who is going to believe that these real-life 16-year-old girls are portraying college interns???? I'm sorry, but this is one of the craziest things the Olsens have done. You can't be a 16-year-old pretending to be 20 in a movie. It just doesn't work. The girls are pretty mature and levelheaded in this movie, but they still don't pass for college girls jetting off to Rome for an internship.Like I said, the movie is pretty good and Mary-kate's romance story is really sweet in it, and the video shots that they got of Rome are beautiful, but if you've seen the formula of Mary Kate and Ashley's movies (wild and trendy names, the newest fashions, cute boys, etc...), know that "When In Rome" is pretty much based upon the same lines. I will say that they're more grown up and mature than ever here; they're beautiful girls who seem to be growing up more and more with each movie that they film, and they're not quite as annoying as they were in movies like "Winning London" and "Getting There." So basically, they're growing up a lot, but everything else is pretty much the same as you've seen in their other videos. If you like that, then by all means go for this one."
