I never particularly cared for Adam Sandler until I stumbled across this movie. It was the first time I'd seen him in a role that showed more depth of character than just a superficial cartoon-like entity displaying sophomoric antics. As a result, I found this movie to be surprisingly good, although the plot is predictable. Warm, funny and romantic. You root for the guy to get the girl. Yes, it's a chick flick but the hubby liked it too. A period piece that evokes smiles (and winces) of rememberances.
