So Bad, it's Good

"Low budget is no excuse for making a truly bad film. 'Clerks' was low budget. 'Memento' was low budget. These films have gone on to win a great deal of critical acclaim despite their limited production costs, unlike this film which falls solidly into the category of "it's so bad, it's good." It's a Madea film without Madea. The 'jazz singer' storyline seems tacked on and totally unbelievable considering that the lead actress is obviously not a singer. The music performed here could hardly be dubbed as "jazz." It's cheaply produced R&B background music set to chincy Yamaha drum track presets. This is the type of film I would actually buy just to have a good laugh with friends and family. It's that bad. I give it two stars because at least it was entertaining to watch--in a 'train wreck' sort of way. It's really just another "I can't find a good black man" story that's been done to death in recent years. Only this one is done from a Christian perspective, which, if you're just hard up for entertainment, might be considered a good thing. It borrows heavily (read: steals) from mainstream films such as Runaway Bride and Waiting to Exhale, and rehashes those plots into something utterly bland and uninspiring. Bad acting, bad storyline, bad music...view at your own risk."
