Movie Reviews

Everything that happens AFTER the launch
J. Powell | Brooklyn, NY United States | 12/06/2009
(4 out of 5 stars)

"If you know anyone interested in the space program, they will enjoy this DVD set.

It can be a little boring at times, but overall is a great set and wonderful value.

The set starts with the tragedy of the Columbia crash upon re-re and how that the next mission was dedicated to "getting back to space", and dedicated to that team that was lost.

It shows you the astronauts boarding the ship, one by one, and getting settle into their seats. Communication checks for every single member. My point here is, that this is detailed.

It travels with the launch in real time, to the disengage of the solid rocket boosters, the various speeds it reaches to hit orbit, etc.

This mission has a female commander, so it's also an inspiration for young women also.

The subsequent discs detail their various experiments, tools they use, space walks, etc.

Again, some of this material might be boring to a casual interest person, and the production is not flashy like any of the IMAX films, but this has a good place for someone who really wants to know the nitty gritty of what happens after the awesome spectacle of the launch."
