SPACE SHOOTOUT

"VELOCITY TRAP is thematically an intergalactic western, replete with shootouts and bad guys vs. good guys. Martial arts hero Olivier Gruner plays a cop who is framed for the murder of a fellow police officer and transferred as a security guard on a vessel hauling forty billion dollars in cash from banks from 32 planets! Of course, some space pirates want that money so they dock onto the ship and proceed to terrorize the crew. This crew includes Alicia Coppola (any relation to Francis Ford?) and Bruce Weitz as its crusty captain. The thieves include Ken Olandt (A Time for Revenge), Jorja Fox and Jaason Simmons. Craig Wasson has a brief role as a mining executive who also has a contract on Gruner's ex-wife; in the future, marriages are contracts that can be purchased for the right price. This interesting element never gets full attention; we never know what happens in this regard. The movie suffers from a quick climax, and one that tries hard to be "cute". But not a bad film all around. Special effects are pretty good for low budget film."

"Heres a movie I thought would be a waste of time. To my suprise the story is interesting and character setup was good. There were some funny parts, some that dragged and some that rocked. A suprisingly entertaining film for the Sci/Fi enthusiast."

"Although I bought this movie only to get a better glimpse of Alicia Coppola (who's career is hard to follow today), I was surprised by the quality of the movie. The action scenes were good, the dialogue wasn't cheezy overdone sci-fi blabber, the effects were terrific, and the overall production was good. If you like sci-fi, check it out! Or check out ufofilm.com for more info on the movie and others!"

"I bought this movie for Jorja Fox (Pallas), but I found it to be an entertaining romp through space. It was an old western polished up for the 90's, and I enjoyed it all the way. I also picked up the DVD, and found the additional information to be very helpful. I'd rate the movie higher if it wasn't so formulaic."
