Turbo Blu-ray / DVD Combo + Toy Racer It's easy to imagine the pitch for Turbo: "It's A Bug's Life meets Cars!" But that's no knock against this agreeable animated feature, which revolves around snails and speed--two things that don't usually go together. Theo... more » (Ryan Reynolds) isn't like other snails, since he dreams of becoming a racecar driver, like Guy Gagné (Bill Hader). His big brother, Chet (Paul Giamatti), tries to convince him that gardening is where it's at, but after a freak encounter with a Camaro engine, he turns into a speed machine. Along his travels around Los Angeles, Theo meets taco-truck driver Tito (Michael Peña), who races snails, which introduces the newly dubbed Turbo to a whole new world, since he joins other mollusks, like Whiplash (Samuel L. Jackson), who share his passion. Just as Tito's brother, Angelo (Luis Guzmán), struggles to keep their business afloat, the merchants at the Starlight Plaza are doing the same. When word gets out about Turbo, business picks up, so Tito enters him in the Indy 500. Like Chet, Angelo has his doubts, but the other merchants sign on as sponsors, and the gang hits the road. A snail competing against humans is farfetched, even by animation standards, but Turbo embodies the movie's maxim that "no dream is too big and no dreamer is too small," and he saves an entire community in the process.
