Creative Coordination is a three-disc set presenting Thomas Lang s cutting- edge approach to 21st Century drumming with particular emphasis on foot technique and coordination. In a step-by-step approach that starts slow... more »ly and simply, Thomas lays out a clear and concise method for working up to the kinds of fast, complex and challenging beats that are pushing the boundaries of contemporary Rock, Metal and Fusion music. Main Chapters, each with a series of comprehensive exercises and examples, include: *Advanced Foot-Technique Exercises-Thomas demonstrates the use of single- and double-stroke kick drum patterns in contemporary drumming, flam and double-stroke accent patterns and exercises, a series of rudimental workouts for the feet and the unique technique he developed for playing multi-pedal orchestrations (M.P.O.s) and foot ostinatos. *Contemporary Coordination Matrix-Thomas Lang reveals his "secret formula," a method Thomas has developed for practicing contemporary coordination and independence in the most efficient and time-saving manner. Using Thomas "matrix" Thomas has reached a level of unbelievable independence and coordination. And in this chapter he breaks down the system so that everyone can see how it's done. *Modern Playing Concepts -Thomas demonstrates how to apply these 21st-Century drumming concepts to real-life playing situations, showing a multitude of examples and applications of hardcore-drumming techniques in contemporary musical styles and in several tour de force drum solos. Special Features and Bonus Material include a unique audio-commentary track where Thomas breaks down everything he plays. Also included are bonus sections on posture, seat height, balance, stick grip, plus transcriptions, in the form of PDF files, and minus-one mixes. Additional bonus material includes: A visit to Thomas home studio, a live solo performance, a photo gallery, and more.« less
"This is the best quality instructional DVD that has ever been produced. There is so much information here that one can watch the video a dozen times and still find new things... Thomas Lang is a top player and his playing is both entertaining and inspiring, and although many exercises are very advanced there is something for everyone. If you want to learn new concepts for your feet, you should get this DVD. Or, even if you just want to improve your listening skills with lots of odd times, you should get it too. You can also get it just because you would like to be petrified by great performances. But don't miss the oportunity to view this excellent material, it's definitely worth it!"

"Creative Coordination and Advanced Foot Technique, Thomas Lang's newest educational DVD is without a doubt one of the finest of its kind that I have ever seen. Right down to the package design, this product is thoughtful and first rate. A real top shelf offering. This box set is beautiful and colorful and will make a handsome addition to any drummer's video library. The package itself is of a thicker gauge material which I appreciate since I am taking out DVDs everyday...this will hold up! Also the discs themselves are color-coded and clever looking. Mr. Lang demonstrates all of the exercises at a slower tempo and then follows it up with an up-tempo demonstration so the viewer can see and hear the difference. Plus every exercise comes with a printable .pdf file. Since this DVD is often heady and requires sincere focus, Mr. Lang's self-deprecating sense of humor and light-hearted approach is refreshing. Mr. Lang seems to have a sincere desire to share with his audience what he went through to put this system together. Mr. Lang also explains his "Matrix System" and how it will save you time in the practice room. It is also evident that Mr. Lang wants and cares for his audience to advance and learn.
The production is fantastic...camera angles are useful and show all...and to see an incredible player demonstrate such things as heel-down and heel-up techniques so well is a fantastic advantage for all levels of players. There are no secrets here! I for one feel like a lot of the mystery in foot technique was addressed and finalized with this DVD. Mr. Lang should be very proud of this body of work as it has much to offer the drumming world. I HIGHLY recommend this product to drummers of ALL skill levels.
Thank you very much, Mr. Lang. Thumbs WAY up!

"This is quite unsual to get so much information on a DVD package... If you're looking for some work and exercises for the years to come, please do have a look at Mr Lang's Matrix for coordination. This guy's crazy and he does things that may take (at least for me) a very long time to achieve. My only question might be: it's technically awesome but does it add something to the music if you're playing in a band ? It looks very smart(thanks HD), it sounds very nice and the packaging is cool. Very nice."

"I won't repeat what you can read in other reviews. I will just add that a major letdown for me was to find out that "foot technique" here really means double bass. If you don't play double bass (like me) and you are expecting instead to find creative techniques for your bass and your hi-hat, there's zero of that here."
