Thomas the Tank Engine fans will scarcely breathe as Thomas and friends encounter haunted mines, dangerous boulders with watchful eyes, ghost cars on moonlit nights, fog-shrouded scrap yards, and a ghostly figure protect... more »ing engines from unseen dangers. Thomas, Rusty, Toby, Duncan, Stepney, and Henry courageously face their fears to learn that many "ghosts" are just regular people (or trains) that appear frightening due to one's imagination. Annie, Clarabel, Lady Hatt, and Sir Topham Hatt teach viewers about the value of home and friendship in "Sir Topham Hatt's Holiday," and a music video, "Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining," stresses the importance of goals, learning from mistakes, and the power of a smile. After 37 thrilling minutes of six episodes and a music video, Thomas & Friends devotees will be clamoring for more. (Ages 3 and older) --Tami Horiuchi« less
"After three attempts, Alec Baldwin, the narrator has put some life into the characters that was missing from his earlier efforts on "Cranky Bugs" and "Races and Rescues." As the editorial review suggests, this video is scarier and more suspenseful than earlier Thomas stories, so I don't consider it suitable for children under 5. "Spills and Chills" introduces a new character, Boulder, a big round rock with a pouty face that is probably the most clever Thomas character yet. "Spills and Chills and Other Thomas Thrills" would be a fine addition to your Thomas video library."

"Thid is a good video. In this video, Alec Baldwin does a wonderful variety of voices. Even though some moments are sort of scary, it is a good video.
The story stops are:
Toby's Discovery
Rusty and the Boulder
Duncan Gets Spooked
Stepney Gets Lost
Haunted Henry
Sir Topham Hatt's Holiday
The Music Video:"Every Cloud has a Silver Lining""
Not the best selection of episodes

"With this video, it was obvious that the producers were trying to spice up the series by making it creepier and more action-packed, and the result was this collection of rather low-quality episodes.
I do enjoy these episodes, but some of them could be genuinely frightening to young children. Sheds explode, boulders race down railway lines, engines and freight cars plunge off high bridges into ravines, runaway trains crash through level crossings, a lost engine is nearly smeltered down...the list goes on. Plus not one of these episodes is a patch on "Percy's Ghostly Trick" and "Thomas, Percy and the Dragon," and the last episode, "Sir Topham Hatt's Holiday," isn't even scary, so why they put it on the video I have no idea. Same goes for the song, "Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining." The song "Night Train" would have more suitable.
Another low point of the video is Alec Baldwin's narration. In "Cranky Bugs" and "Races, Rescues and Runaways," he did a fairly good job despite his vocalisations for James and Gordon. But it was this video where his narration went downhill. He lacks emotion in several bits, and some of his voices could do with touching up a bit, particularly Duncan, who sounds plain weird, and Stepney, who sounds like your average Cockney or Australian person. He also changes Annie and Clarabel's voices at one point (changing voices was something which became a trend in his later episodes).
All in all, "Spills and Chills" isn't a bad Thomas video, but there are many better ones out there."

"I owned the video, and after it wore out I bought the DVD. My 5 and 2 year old kids love Thomas, especially the 2 year old. Kids with imagination will love these stories. Alec Baldwin does a great job narrating, and the primitive graphics allow the kids brains to bring the characters to life. If your kid is a whimp, sit with him when watching the Boulder episode, 2nd time thru they'll be OK."

"A video that made my kids rejoice!! When my kids invited me to watch this video, I thought that it would be lame. But what I got was a very nice video. My favourite one was when stepney was almost scrapped. A good video and well done to Alec Baldwin for good narrating. But parents be warned...this is not a video for squimish kids. I thought that it was a bit extreme for littles but for oldens i would reccomened it!! It was the best even for me."
