"The DVD continues the Tenchi in Tokyo story. Episode 8 has the Masaki family recalling the events of how the girls arrived at Tenchi's home. Definitely a different story than OVA and Universe. Epsiode 9 has Tenchi and the girls exploring a cave under Tokyo that was revealed after an earthquake. This episode is important as it relates the origin of Yugi - our protagonist. Episode 10 is about Ryoko's big date with Tenchi. Of course, Sakuya sees this. The results are very emotional.Occasionally, the animation reverts to the manic Saturday morning cartoon style. Too bad, as otherwise this series would rate 5 stars, in my opinion. There is much adult story matter here that needs to be taken seriously. This is why I keep looking forward to more Tenchi! When the animation style stays serious, the results are outstanding. The DVD finally has menu-driven scene and episode access. Thanks, Pioneer! The quality is up to Pioneer's excellent standards. The special features are the beginning and ending sequences without the credits - so you can see the animation clearly. Also included is the Japanese advertising trailer for the Tenchi in Tokyo series."

"Tenchi in Tokyo isn't that bad, just needs some improvements. The animation should have been high quality like the OAV and the TV series. Next, the plot line needs some readjustment. However, this makes a very entertaining and funny start. The episodes include one where Ryoko has a big date with Tenchi. It doesn't produce really any sparks but it's interesting. Also, there's one where Sakuya goes to Tenchi's house and ruins an anniversary party. The results are slightly emotional. One thing, Sakuya's dubbed voice should have been better!!!!"
