The Big Brawl Begins
Simon | Brampton, ON | 12/10/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This DVD collects the four-part "Big Brawl" story arc that ended season 2 of TMNT (or rather started season 3, due to bad scheduling). For those wondering, this disc is being released before "City at War" and "Rogue in the House" to tie-in with the new video game of the same name. Nice cross-promotion, huh?

Anyway, this is probably one of the strongest multi-part arcs of the series. There is a nice mix of action and character development, and the story is better paced compared to Turtles in Space, Secret Origins, and City at War. There is a nice build up to the finale, with the Turtles each engaged in different plot threads. Also look for returning characters that tie the overall series together, including the Triceraton warrior Traximus, the Ultimate Ninja, and the first appearance of fan-favourite Usagi Yojimbo (now Usagi Miyamoto, his original name). Bonus points if you can spot the monsters from "The King" episode in season 1.

A great way to cap off season 2, with a nice teaser for the epic saga that opens season 3. Highly recommended for TMNT fans."
Don't miss this one!

"Master Splinter leaves the sewers, and our heros are curious. So they decide to follow their teacher. But they end up getting more than they bargain for. Unwittingly, they find themselves participating in the Battle Nexus Tournament. The last champion standing wins. But our heros must face more than mere adversaries. They must stop a deception, and save an ailing Leonardo in a race against time. Remember the Ultimate Ninja from the beginning of this season. Well, you'll find out what his motives are in this four parter. This one also sets up events for season three. So buy this! Do it! C'mon!"
