Whether you have ever been a baseball fan or not this one will move you! It is all about the great American game of baseball and how having a talent will make you great! Everybody has something they excel in and the "kid" in Talent for the Game has an amazing talent he needs to share with the world. Edward James Almos is always excellent as an actor and this time he hits it out of the park himself! Some of the story line is lacking but overall this movie is inspiring and you will be cheering for the rookie to succeed!

?A Talent for the Game? is a movie about overcoming the odds

"Although the story is light on originality, this is a great family movie about a small town boy getting his break in the big city. The movie boasts big acting talent with Edward James Olmos ("Stand and Deliver") and Lorraine Bracco (nominated for an Oscar for her role in "Goodfellas"). The first half of the film is filled with wonderful cinematography of the beautiful landscapes of northern Idaho where Virgil Sweet (Olmos), a major league scout, finds the next pitching phenom, Sammy Bodeen (Jeff Corbett). Sweet just has to convince the town's stubborn preacher to let his son, Bodeen, go fulfill his dream of becoming a baseball star. Things unfortunately do not go as planned when the team owner tries to exploit Bodeen. Almost overcome by the high expectations placed on him, Bodeen finds success through the help (and trickery) of Sweet. "A Talent for the Game" is a movie about overcoming the odds, and leaves you feeling great!"

"This movie is about a baseball scout who finds a player at the last minute just before he is released by the new owner of the team. It sets in play an excellent story line and viewers get to see another side of the game. Excellent video."
Boring and predictable

"Edward James Olmos is a great actor. He is the only reason that I gave this movie even a '2 rating'.
This was a very disappointing, far from memorable movie. I will probably pass it on to one of my grandsons who likes baseball.
