Something strange is happening when Su-mi and her younger sister, Su-yeon, come home to their fathers large but dark and somewhat foreboding house after a stay in the hospital. Their dad is taciturn and burdened, and their... more » stepmother, Eun-joo, greets them with forced enthusiasm and more than a little sense of irritation. But thats nothing compared to what happens when bedtime rolls around. Stylish and shocking, this visually arresting tale of family secrets and uncertain realities is based on a traditional Korean folktale. Guaranteed to have you gasping for breath with each successive scare. Youll be kept guessing until the very end of this unique and brilliant film.« less

A fantastic Korean horror film. Well-written, with nice cinematography. Very psychological, and minimal on the violence. Imagine The Shining, void of its dark comedy ...but plus extra creepiness, and with a few intense scenes where you may have to hold someone's hand. Highly recommended.

Had been some time since I'd seen this. Recently watched The Uninvited and was about 2/3 of the way through when I realized it was loosely based on this film. After viewing this film again, I can see why I didn't initially realize the connection between the two: there are vast plot differences. While I like The Uninvited, A Tale of Two Sisters is a fantastic movie. It is a beatifully photographed picture. The colors are deep, rich and vibrant. The horror is present, but mostly understated and works at a deeper psychological level. I agree w/the review who said it is confusing at times, but that only adds to the unease of the plotline. A wonderful film that would be a great addition to any fan or horror or suspense/thriller pictures. Highly recommended!

This is the UNRATED one disk version. To be honest, this didn't make very much sense to me, just shocking elements and a lot of screaming. I prefer Versus and ICHI THE KILLER to this.

"This film is probably the creepiest/most beautiful film I have seen in years. Attention to detail, pacing and picture quality in general was top notch.
