It lacks the texture, lighting and subtle nuance of a Pixar film. However, the computer animation is pretty good for a children's video and you won't be disappointed. There are several children's videos that I like to watch with my kids. This particular video leaves me lukewarm. There are very few, if any, bits of humor for adults to bolster our flagging sanity. That said, it passes the most important test; the kids love it. Parents won't find it annoying (at least for the first 50 times they see it). My kids particularly like the musical bits. My five-year-old also likes the read along version of the original "Spookley" book on the bonus section. It's interesting that the book diverges SIGNIFICANTLY from the video. My son has specifically asked to see the bonus feature several times. It's read by the same guy who sings "Monster Mash", so gives the story a very nice "Transylvania Twist". Here we are approaching Christmas and he still wants the punkin movie. It has a great moral to the story and a lot of cute songs to get stuck in your head. He has a great time watching it and laughs at a lot of it. I'm glad I made the purchase and delivery came the day before Halloween.
