In a world where "The only good pumpkins are round pumpkins!" SPOOKLEY THE SQUARE PUMPKIN is often teased by the other pumpkins because of his odd shape. Soon, Spookley is befriended by Edgar, Allan, and Poe, three hilari... more »ous spiders who convince Spookley that square or not, he has a right to be the "Pick of the Patch" on Halloween." A square pumpkin the Pick of the Patch? Not if mean round pumpkins Big Tom and Little Tom can help it. These two bullies tease and taunt Spookley because of his square roots. Encouraged to continue to become the "pick of the Patch" by kindly Jack the Scarecrow and his bat sidekicks, Boris and Bella, Spookley isn't sure he has what it takes until a mighty storm threatens to destroy the entire patch. As the storm rolls the round pumpkins uncontrollably across the patch towards a raging river, Spookley realizes "it's fine to be round while the weather is fair, but there are times it's better be square!« less
"Instant classic - very cute and entertaining, pleasing to watch. It's like the Rudolph story, but for Halloween - teaches acceptance of differences and kids love it. My 4 kids (9, 5, 4, and 1) all watch it and love it. Cute songs, great graphics, and I just hope this company produces some more holiday shows!"
Kid's Love it!! RIght of Passage for Parents!!

"If you want a less expensive version, without the plush toy, you can buy Spookley the Square Pumpkin. Pixar it's not. It lacks the texture, lighting and subtle nuance of a Pixar film. However, the computer animation is pretty good for a children's video and you won't be disappointed. There are several children's videos that I like to watch with my kids. This particular video leaves me lukewarm. There are very few, if any, bits of humor for adults to bolster our flagging sanity. That said, it passes the most important test; the kids love it. Parents won't find it annoying (at least for the first 50 times they see it).
My kids particularly like the musical bits. My five-year-old also likes the read along version of the original "Spookley" book on the bonus section. It's interesting that the book diverges SIGNIFICANTLY from the video.
My son has specifically asked to see the bonus feature several times. It's read by the same guy who sings "Monster Mash", so gives the story a very nice "Transylvania Twist". Overall, I'm not disappointed I bought it for my kids."

"My kids love this DVD. Spookley is a pumpkin who is teased because he is different but this show teaches not to judge a book by it's cover. 5 Cute songs and it teaches a valuable lesson. Special features include:
-Direct Play DVD-full screen version
-Read Along with Bobby(Monster Mash) Pickett
My 2 year & 8 year old love this show and ask for it all through the year.

"My 2 year old son saw this movie on Disney channel 3 weeks before Halloween. All he kept saying after that was "watch punkin movie." All other Halloween movies he said,"no,no."
Here we are approaching Christmas and he still wants the punkin movie. It has a great moral to the story and a lot of cute songs to get stuck in your head. He has a great time watching it and laughs at a lot of it. I'm glad I made the purchase and delivery came the day before Halloween.
I could have given it as a Christmas present and he still would watch throughout the year."

"While this is no It's the Great Pumpkin,Chalie Brown it is a cute show for young kids.I bought it for my 4 year old granddaughter. She does watch it but is not as thrilled about it as I thought she would be.It does send a message about accepting others even thought they may be different from you(a square pumpkin in this case)It features some very different characters such as 2 cute bats named Bella and Boris and three talking spiders named Edgar,Allen and Poe.And of course several talking pumpkins and a walking.talking scarecrow(think Wizard of Oz)."
