IN A SPIRAL STATE portrays Los Angeles through the eyes of an angel named Daya (Ofri Fuchs) who's become mesmerized by the city's interconnected yet utterly isolated inhabitants, particularly its struggling and flawed arti... more »sts, frauds, and drug addicts. Of particular interest to Daya is suicidal actress Maya (Juliana Fine) and murderous femme fatales Marlene (Mae Moreno), Marlena (Bianca Barnett), Danielle (Lizzy Strain), Yasmine (Messy Stench) and Honey (Elissa Dowling). An angel named Gadi (Adam Meir) tries to prevent Daya from interfering in their lives, but he is unable to stop the empathetic Daya as she is drawn into the frightening and twisted machinations of the city's underbelly. Mixing Kabbalah, quantum mechanics, struggles of human existence, and theories of our own spiral galaxy, visionary filmmaker Ramzi Abed (THE DEVIL'S MUSE, TELEPHONE WORLD) weaves an urban and divine love story in this hallucinatory thriller that pulls audiences into a world of Hebrew-speaking angels, broken hearts, drug overdoses, organ thieves, and metaphysical mystery. Editorial FX wizard and avant-garde electronica composer, Ken Cravens (Devil's Highway) collaborated in helping realize the frenetic feel and cutting style of the film.
In the city of Los Angeles, millions of lives intersect everyday, but each individual is still isolated from the whole. A number of strange incidents occur to four men and four women, just as their own lives begin to spiral out of control. Surrounded by con artists, frauds, drug addicts, and homeless people, a story starts to form in a screenwriter's head. Little does he know, his characters seem to have come to life as well. Things takes a surprise turn, as these LA residents find themselves locked into a mystery together. While relating to quantum mechanics, our own spiral galaxy, and the struggle of human existence, an urban love story grows out of the vine of disconnection.
