"Space Pirate Mito is an anime that seems cheesy at first, but becomes more charming as time goes on. When I first saw the CG ship, I contemplated on turning it off, thinking it would be something incredibly stupid like Spectral Force. I was pleasently mistaken.
You join Mito, a woman who looks like she is 5 years old when in actuality she is much much older (Think Washuu from Tenchi Muyo). She goes to earth to see her son Aoi. Unfortunatly, Aoi thinks his mother is a super model since she wears an exo-suit when around him, giving her the apperance of a woman. He finds out the hard way (by a battle with the Galaxy Police), that his mother looks younger than he does and that she is actually a Space Pirate. Hurt, and upset, Aoi's feelings are torn. The whole first season revolves around Mito's enemy Ranban trying to get ahold of Mito. He does this by sending his two minions down to earth. Both are brother and sister. The brother is deathly afraid of cats which causes humorous results, and his sister Mutsuki who ends up falling in love with Aoi. The series ends with a pleasent little surprise in store for Aoi, which leads to the second season, Aoi and Mutsuki: A Pair of Queens.
If you can get past the cheesy CG effects on the ship, and the fact that the animation looks like the first season of Sailor Moon, then I think you'll be in for a pleasent surprise. However, as with all titles this show isn't for everyone, so just read the review. If you don't like it, don't buy it. However, with that said, I will say that both season one and two can be bought from Best Buy for 15 dollars."
