Movie Reviews

Go,Go Stellar Buster Mito.

"Space Pirate Mito is one of those series that I really thought was going to ... so had I never planned on buying it. But one day I read a review for it in a gaming mag and after reading about it, it actually sounded quite appealing to me. From the front of DVD Box I automatically assumed that Mito was just the big blonde hottie you see on it. But in truth the real Mito is a 3-foot tall alien girl that looks like what we would consider to be just a cute little girl, but by her planets standards she is actually a fully mature woman. The Mito that you see on the DVD case is actually one of the many suits she wears, this one being the one she wears when she goes into battle. Aoi, Mito's son has no idea what his mother really looks like because he has always seen in one of her suits. He also doesn't know that she is a highly wanted Space pirate. Upon finding out what she actually looks like and what she is, Aoi just can not bring himself to call her mother any more, which greatly saddens her. Despite the fact that she looks like a little girl, she is actually very motherly and cares deeply for her son and would do anything to protect him.
This is the main reason I like what I've seen of the series so far. I found it really touching just how much Mito loves her son and I just couldn't help but feel sad for her for Aoi refusing to call her mother. This anime is also pretty funny. While it may not be as funny as other series, it defintely has it's moments. I really can't say much for the soundtrack, but I will say that the opening theme is pretty catchy. While I may have made it sound like some drama series, it is actually more of a sci-fi/comedy series. So if that's the kind of anime you like then I suggest you check this out. Even if you aren't you should still give it a try. Because I don't care much for Sci-Fi series and this is one of the few that I really liked."

"After watching the first volume straight through, i can not wait to see the next volume! Lisa Ortiz (Lina Inverse of the "Slayer's" series) is a perfect cast for the principal character "Mito" for the english dub version!
The animation is sharp and colorful, and just cheeky enough for the style of the story. I also enjoyed the jaunty play on some of my other favorite anime, as well as one of my favorite rock songs! Although the stories in each series do get a little silly every now and then, it isn't over done, and the scenes are very well timed.
The Story involves an alien space pirate called "Mito" who visits her earth born son, who is unaware of his mother's true career path, believing instead that she is a New York supermodel. In the process, the galactic police follow her in attempt to arrest her, her son, and the rest of Mito's crew, and find a key to a super weapon that Mito has hidden somewhere in the galaxy. Adventures abound for the overprotective mom and her son as Mito tries to get her son to call her mom again, all the while trying to avoid giant transforming robots (made out of everything from a construction site boom crane, to a pinic table umbrella), a maniacal high school teacher who is in dire need of a reality check, and jealous girlfriends!
All in all, a great series so far!"
