This is one of the few live action series produced by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson. Aired in the mid 1970's. British/Italian project. While not exactly the most scientifically accurate, this is excellent storytelling and features heavily in the memories of many a 70's child. The Anderson's mostly produced marionette fantasy/scifi programmes, which are all of extreme entertainment value. I highly suggest seeking them all out. Nothing quite like them.

Having viewed the Dvd release for years, this Blu-ray release is a thing of beauty to behold. Though the series was shot in full screen, one is able to zoom in for wide without detectible pixelization. Add on the 5.1 audio remastering. Much love and detail was put into the scale model shots (from the famed Pinewood Studios) and one can clearly see this in the HD mastering. Several of these folk went on to work on Alien and Empire Strikes Back.

Series two on Blu-ray is only available in B/2 (European Region.) Guess sales in the U.S. weren't the best.
