Movie Reviews

Engaging DVD

"My son is 10 months old and this video holds his attention and interest. The three signers do a wonderful job of demonstrating each sign while using expressive voices and faces. While practicing each sign, there are meaningful and interesting pictures, as well as children signing or demonstrating the word.

The signs are divided into categories like Food, Family, Animals, Hobbies, and Body Parts. This video offers the following words: Eat, Drink, Milk, More, Water, Apple, Banana, Cookie, Please, All Done, Thank You, Cat, Dog, Bird, Fish, Cow, Pig, Sheep, Monkey, Mother, Father, Blanket, Bottle, Book, Diaper, Play, Ball, Throw, My Turn, Sing, Dance, Eye, Ear, Nose, Hands, Feet, Bath, Sleep, Night-Night, Yes, No, Love, Kiss, and Bye-Bye.

We've only been using the video for a few weeks, so he is not signing yet. But he is definitely paying attention.

UPDATE: My son is now 16 months old and able to make about 11 signs. He still enjoys this video and is excited to show me his signs.

"I am a big advocate of the "Say It With A Sign" video. My kids love it! Signing has made such a difference with my son and daughter (twins). Before they could say words, they could talk with us through sign and ask for food (including asking for more and telling us they were all done), drink, naps, diaper change, medicine and much much more! They also signed to each other - really cute. I think their ability to communicate really cut down on fits and other behavioral issues. This video is a "must buy" for parents wanting to teach their children (and themselves) sign language. It uses a great deal of repetition but combines that with cartoon images, live video footage, and still pictures that reinforce the words in a fun and entertaining way. Another plus is that each time the word is signed it is spoken as well. I felt like this encouraged my children to verbalize the words as well as sign them. Another neat thing is that both adults and children demonstrate the signs. My kids love to watch and sign along with the children on the video. All in all it is a fabulous way to start teaching young kids sign language we can't wait for the next videos to be ready and expand our vocabulary!"

"Having these two DVDs has been a wonderful experience for our grand-daughter! We started playing the first vol. when she was 6 mo. and she's been watching the second Vol. for some time too. She claps when she first hears the music and watches them entirely. She has been signing the basics and when she first did 'butterfly' we all cheered! Now at almost one year she signs and tries to say the word as well and her parents are thrilled with her progress.

We all LOVE the videos.

Thanks,

Michael and Linda

"I heard about this video through a co-worker. She is related to the creator. I bought it for my son when he was about a year old. He is now 17 months old, and he uses 8 signs reguarly. His favorite is, "eat more cookie please!" The best part is, he LOVES watching the video. His face lights up every time it comes on, and he actually brings it to me when he wants to watch it. This is the only video (besides Baby Einstein) that he will watch. I also enjoy sitting with him and helping him sign. This is a great video for all children!"
