Nolan Byrd, 12, is not alone in his frustration with getting pushed around by the school bully, but Nolan is without question one of Bubba Bixby's favorite targets.

We fell for the hype and went to see this movie and ended up walking out of the theater. I love scary movies and was looking forward to a good scare, but this is just plain STUPID. Don't waste your time.

To be frank, I rather hated this movie. And I'm usually a horror fan. If they wanted to capture "purgatory" on the wide screen, congratulations this movie gives you a small taste of hell.
Not my kind of movie. It was moody, tense and there really wasn't any revelation or happy ending to redeem the movie. Ended up returning the movie to the store I bought it from. Thankfully it was used and they accepted it back no questions asked. I bought what I wanted but they didn't have the first time, the original Resident Evil, which I loved.
Frankly, I really don't recommend this movie for ANYone, unless you're into depressing moody "evil" films without any particularly redeeming moments.

I didn't know this movie was based on a game, so I wasn't really expecting one thing or another, but I must say I did love the plot, characters, everything, I wasn't really expecting the ending, which I totally loved too!

The first half of the movie was excellent! There were a lot of ways that it took storyline ideas and character names from the original game, and yet plot line had a lot of differences, so for consistency's sake, it would have been a lot better if they had just made up completely new characters. That's assuming that strictly following the original plot was out of the question - which of course would have lacked any element of surprise for the ones who played the game, and let's face it, the first game DID have some really cheesy lines. Instead though, they went halfway and made the plot lines totally out of sync. The first half of the movie though had most of what made the games really good: those run-down foggy settings, the felling of isolation, freakishly scary monsters that looked like believable versions of the ones from the games, and much more. It went a bit downhill from there when a huge group of new characters were introduced, but that's not to say it was all bad - it just could have been a heck of a lot better. Now, I am one who is tired of seeing movies made from games with great soundtracks that do completely away with the great scores of their predecessors, but let me tell you, this isn't one of them. It is full of great songs from the games, and while the plot wasn't as good as the second game, few are.
