Upon watching the trailer, I burst out laughing at the shark destroying the truck and knew I had to check out the finished product. Yes, this film was inspired by the old SNL Land Shark! Unfortunately, the creatures don't talk or knock on doors. (Sequel idea maybe...) The plot did make a baseline amount of sense as far as who the characters are and why/how they go from A to B to C. Most of the sfx are pretty terrible in an entertaining way, including a leg lost by one of these poor ladies. Some of the very first shark shots are awesome, looks almost like a real monstrous creature, or at least like a detailed practical effect, but this quickly goes downhill. Being that this movie was allegedly made for TV broadcast, you won't find any T&A either, if that's what brought you to click on a "women's prison" movie. So why is it worth at least one watch? The actors manage to carry it off with more charisma than they have any right to, especially John Callahan who manages to impart some gravitas. YMMV but I also enjoyed Traci Lords as the eccentric police detective, playing off Corey Landis as her rookie partner. While the concept is pretty amusing, there weren't any moments that could beat my sheer delight at the trailer. The commentary was fun too, sounds like the cast got along pretty well, which is always nice to hear.

Typical cheesy flick that will likely become a cult classic!
