"For those of you interested in a movie with a great storyline and heart pounding drama and suspense... look elsewhere. This movie is fun and its all about the great fight scenes. Absolute fantastic choreography and intense fight sequences make this movie an absolute must have for any MA fan. Gordon Liu is great and depicts the drunken fist style fairly acurately. For those reviewers that only gave this 1 or 2 stars, they obviously have no experience with kung fu films. Don't listen to them, they don't know what they're talking about. I own probably 40 kung fu flicks and this is definetly in the top 10. Up there with Shaolin Temple, Snake and Crane and Fearless Hyena. This one is a must have. Buy it today."

"Gordon Liu is amazing in this tale of revenge. An amazing cast of characters, including a one-armed fighter, and a bad guy who masters in the mantis style. All though at times the flashbacks and storyline slow down the movie, the fights and action make up for it fully. I definately enjoyed this film, and I think that all kungfu collectors should go out and get it. A classic."

"The plot doesn't make very much sense in this movie, but then again it doesn't try to. With that being said, I will go ahead and give you the reasons you should watch this and then the reasons why not.
Reasons why-great iron whip vs. gordon fight, great fight with gordon and guy with iron with without his whip, final fight scene.
This is not a great movie my ANY means, but the jungfu is fun to watch and the commentary means you will watch it at least twice."

"The Shaolin Drunken Monk (1983) starring Gordon Liu, a famous martial arts movie stars in asia, is meh...First, know that Gordon Liu came in the time a little after Bruce Lee. I do not believe that Gordon's movies ever made such acclaim as Bruce Lee did. This movie makes no sense whatsoever, but then again, old martial arts movies that are DUBBED never make any sense. you would hope that they would even include the original Cantonese soundtrack because its DVD, but no, it doesn't. Perhaps Mandarin or something would help just THAT MUCH. The story is bad, but that is seen from the English dubbed version. The fights are excellent. The dubbing adds to humor, but in actuallity, the movie is supposed to be of serious attitude. "Cam!" [insert dramatic, bad quality music)the picture quality and sound quality aren't that great. you can spend your money on something better. I would suggest "Shaolin Challenges Ninja"note: Gordon Liu was the martial arts champion (Number 1 Under the Heavens) in China. The other famous star like this is Jet Li"

"Everything in this movie is at it should, one might think other wise because one is not used to the certain aspect that ones would impose a flaw on. The only flaw is when Hwoangs assin throws the darts at Chao Lun, but thats not a biggie. This movie is enjoyed to its maximum potential on its third or fourth view, becuase you get used to its style aftet that."
