wow- this documentary, "searching for sugar man" just blew me away! what a great surprise to stumble across this one, rates 5 stars for sure. i picked it up at random and feel lucky that i did. it's inspirational and heartwarming and although the story of Rodriguez' life has a somewhat melancholy aspect to it, his general philosophy on life, his humility and centered nature makes the film a pleasure to watch and leaves you feeling joyful and happy. a nice mixture of happy and sad. it's easy to feel happy for him and his family for sure as he finally gains the recognition he certainly deserved but also happy for us all as human beings as we all search for what happiness really means in life. i consider this film a "must see", especially if you're a fan of music and musicians. i watched the film twice, once with the commentary on and i watched all the bonus features included on the disc. it's rare that i invest so much time in any single film but i just couldn't get enough of this story and this man. it's a wonderful reminder that no matter how empty your pockets may be your heart and soul can still be overflowing with peace, love and happiness making you truly rich. thanks for the life lesson rodriguez.
by the way, this man's songwriting is inspired and his voice true, i can't wait to pick up one of his 40 year old albums and give it a proper listen. now i'm searching for sugar man too. bossajake
