Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is based on the manga comic of the same name. Michael Cera stars as Scott Pilgrim, a young man who has a band, a great circle of friends, and a hot, underage Asian girlfriend...and he's terribly miserable. That is, until he meets a weird, freaky girl who turns his world upside down. The only problem is she has seven evil exes and to win her heart, he must do battle and defeat each one.
This movie mixes teen romance with crazy video game violence...and it comes out new, different, and completely, awesomely off-the-wall. And it's not all just crazy fun...Hidden within all of the crazy action and wonderful cinematography is a great sub-text. I think we all have to battle the "evil exees" in our significant other's life. There have always been people before us who have left emotional baggage and to find that happy life together, you have to fix the garbage that someone else dumped on them. This movie just takes it to the Nth degree. And sometimes, if you're lucky, maybe you'll just beat those evil exes and make a happy life together. A person can dream...
