Movie ReviewsAn Unexpected Surprise Amos Lassen | Little Rock, Arkansas | 12/16/2008 (4 out of 5 stars) ""Schoolboy Crush" An Unexpected Surprise Amos Lassen TLA's new release "Schoolboy Crush" is a wonderful example of Japanese animation that is brought to life. It centers on Sora, a young hustler who is hired by handsome school teacher, Kairu, for a night of pleasure and to console himself after the failed relationship. Sora then turns up as his student and scandalous events follow. Sora is petulant by nature and he is also very sexy. He is also in love with Kairu and pursues him and this is very uncomfortable for the teacher. A game of erotic pursuit ensues and has it gains momentum; Kairu's roommate suddenly expresses his desire for Kairu. But there is even more---the school bully also in interested in the teacher but he has been living a secret life and his tryst with another student could bring tragedy on everyone. The movie is inspired by the Japanese comic book, "Boy Love" but this film is somewhat strange and somewhat naughty and very explicit. It is a well made film and quite an interesting love story. I understand some Japanese but I definitely need the english sub-titles and I was not able to activate the subtitles for this movie. If I clicked on subtitle yes and then clicked on return to movie, the subtitle button seemed to deactivate. It was interesting to see the special features appear with subtitles but the movie itself had no subtitles. The actors in the movie are very attractive and the story seems to be very nice but without the subtitles, it is not as enjoyable as it should be."
