Movie ReviewsThe total dehumanization of the human spirit C. Christopher Blackshere | I am the devil's reject | 03/28/2008 (4 out of 5 stars) "Evil. Pure evil. This movie has every intention of figuratively bending your mind over and pounding repulsive images deep into your psyche. Round after round of shocking, horrid, repulsive, disheartnening violence. Brutally explicit raping and torturing of young teens. The horror depicted in this film is way too gruesome and real for most people to even fathom. This is also an abhorrent display of power along with the depravity. Aristocratic leaders collect the youth and totally corrupt them--both physically, mentally, and sexually. It's a prison camp of torture and molestation. And it's all shown in explicit fashion. Seriously, it's so graphic you'll be begging for a break in the abuse. An extremely hard film to watch. All the hype you've heard about this movie is true. This version is much cheaper than the Criterion, but the shots are somewhat grainy and probably need some restoring. Not that you'll want a better view. Even if you're a certified gore hound, this film will have you tucking your tail between your legs and whimpering for salvation. Proceed with the utmost caution." What are they eating? William Dakota | Lima, Ohio | 03/28/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) ""SALO" is the most controversial film ever made, after "Deep Throat." Children are kidnapped and taken to a mansion where they are subjected to S&M cruelties. They eat feces and are raped and killed. Of course what you see isn't real. But it is enought to make many people sick to their stomach. Well, it's a movie, that's all. Just keep thinking to yourself, it's not real, it's not real. For mature adults only."
