Movie Reviews

Very good movie, but

"totally like this movie, bought the dvd, watched it, unfortunately the dvd movie has been edited. I know, cuz I recorded the unedited version to vhs a long time ago, then transferred that to DVD with my recorder (cuz vhs doesn't last well) while waiting and hoping for it to come to dvd (such a great movie deserves to be a perfect copy), so bought when it came to dvd, and noticed the edit (dialogue edit) which disappointed me as there was no reason to edit anything in this otherwise perfect movie.

that's my two cents worth."
No "Windwalker" by Navajoboy12

(4 out of 5 stars)

"This movie tried to compete with "Windwalker","Dances With Wolves" and "A Man Called Horse".Really,it did okay.Period costumes and weapons were accurate, but they couldn't pull off speaking real Piute Indian language.

It starts out in 1863,and trapper Matt Colter and his Apache wife,Little Doe,is pregnant. They venture into Oregon country, which is also the homeland of the Piutes.Colter finds a half burnt cabin which he repairs for his family. What he doesn't know is that this is the sacred burial place to the Piutes. The Piutes destroy the cabin, and his wife gives birth to the baby in the ruins. The Piutes then kill Little Doe and claim the baby, because he was born on their grounds.Colter scares them off,but knowing he must find food for the infant,he captures a Piute woman to feed his boy, with the help of his friend Lum Wicher.

I think the crew could have at least made an effort to speak the Piute language. However, there may not be anyone who speaks it fluently.

Overall, aside from a few flaws, this movie was pretty good for family viewing.
