While the ethical topics of cloning and transfer of the human soul via electronics are brought up in this film, they are quickly discarded in favor of a relatively conventional action film in the second half. The second half of the film is not where I thought it would go, as the mood of the film seemed headed in a darker direction with Reeves tinkering as a modern day Dr. Frankenstein. The film missed some greater potential in that respect, but it was already a mismatch of foolish technical issues with the overall scientific premise. For example, clones being grown in tanks and emerging with hair cut and nails at the exact same length as the dead subject being cloned - despite the premise of 17 days being needed to bring all three clones (at different ages) to maturity. Being left in the tank too long could age them decades, etc. The film is probably best enjoyed by non-technical/medical viewers, but it's difficult because so much of the action focuses on technical explanations to make things seem legitimate. The writer would have been better served staying away from the tech, and perhaps shoring up the plot holes and unlikely behaviors of characters. Overall, this film attempts to appeal to a lot of different types of viewers (hard sci fi, action lovers, romance, philosophical issues, thriller) but falls short on all of them leaving a general 'meh' experience.

This was quite impressive with a feel of iRobot and the Matrix. Keanu Reeves shines in this sci-fi action drama that keeps you on your toes!
