Movie Reviews

Some great bands, worth the money!
Joshua Petersen | Spokane, WA | 01/08/2010
(4 out of 5 stars)

"While I appreciate people's opinions, one should not post blatant false information (Justin B. Mcconnel).

To clear up the falsehoods, the first disc is indeed a DVD-5 (4.12gb) while disc two is a DVD-9 (7.51gb) so this could not have been condensed to a single dual-layer. While his review was written in 2004, he must have had some equipment issues (i.e. low-end PC) because my PC running VGA out to my 42" LCD displays NO pixelation or tearing. Everything is as expected in a non-bloated corporate-style DVD. The 5.1 sound quality is great considering they didn't have a multimillion dollar budget. The special features are located in the "Chapter Selection" menu on the second disc, not "10 chapter pages" in as Justin claims. While I agree that they probably should have been given their own Title Menu option, it's hardly inconvenient. It's astounding that a person who authors and edits DVDs for a living would overlook and actually publish this information when it is obviously and absolutely incorrect.

Regardless, the DVD itself has some great performances by some great bands (Disc 1: Bongzilla, Alabama Thunderp*ssy, Cephalic Carnage, Mastoon, Neurosis; Disc 2: Pig Destroyer. Burnt by the Sun, Today is the Day, High on Fire, The Dillinger Escape Plan). It would have been nice to have text on-screen at the beginning of each song with at least the song title. Other than that, the only thing I missed was the stellar mustache Liam Wilson (The Dillinger Escape Plan) sports in the "Ire Works" years, but that wasn't until 2007."
