A group of high school students manage to move easily in and out of occupied Spokane to execute guerilla warfare tactics on the North Korean army. The story moves far too quickly in the beginning, using a sort of training montage to convince us that these children can become an elite unit in a matter of weeks. Hemsworth plays the Swayze role well, Palicki is passable, the rest are not up to the task. The C. Thomas Howell role is barely lukewarm - big disappointment. Is it fair to try and compare the movie to the 80s version? No, and I wouldn't had they not forced such comparisons through constant homages throughout: "Yep, I remember that scene . . . but they changed it just a little bit". I think I would have preferred this film to go its own way with the same Wolverines! concept, but it vacillates between a re-do and an original story enough that comparisons to the 80s version are required. The allure of the original movie was in watching young people become adults over the full course of the movie, facing daunting challenges. This version fast forwards through that part and becomes a special ops Delta Force movie with teens. sigh

The remake was a bit of a letdown.

Despite the bad reviews I liked the movie. Similar to the Swayze and Sheen origional (they make for a more convincing brother combo than Peck and Hemsworth) Hemsworth is always watachable in my book and does not dissapoint in this one. Could of fleshed out some of the supporting Characters a little more. Movie is worth a watch, I would not spend the money to buy, the more times you watch a movie like this the more flaws you seem to notice.
