"There is hardly a children's movie that is more innovative than this 2002 production. It stands in a class by itself. It is hard to describe the movie without giving it away. Let me just say that it is a very different perspective of the Cinderella story, but one that alert viewers who know the story will gradually discern. Even one who never heard the Cinderella story will be captivated by this film. Don't let the somewhat unappealing title put you off; while it does describe the story, it is such a delightful story that I cannot imagine anyone who is young in age, or even young heart, will not enjoy from beginning to end. The little red-haired boy is simply charming. There is no bad language or situations, so it is a solid "G" movie; I can hardly wait to show it to my grandchildren! Simply put, Hollywood needs to make more movies as inventive and original as this movie. It may be hard to find, but well worth looking for!
The fact that Ned Beatty stars in the movie is a plus for me because he is one of the nicest actor's I've worked with in a movie. It was raining all day one day, so Mr. Beatty and a bunch of us sat in a dripping tent talking fly fishing and just having a great little social gathering."
Truly charming film for children!

"I happened on this at a bargain bin and was suprised to find it, upon viewing, such a creative film! I'm suprised it didn't make more of a splash during its release time, especially since rats seem to be the 'charming animal' of the decade. This film is so much better than much of the star-studded Christmas tripe that comes out for children. (Though this is not a Christmas-themed movie - but good as a gift.)"
