European flavor, so not your standard American action film. But, I enjoyed it.

The two Michaels in this film are first rate actors and they work quite well together. This is a somewhat different role for Keaton as he starts out as a “Harvey Milktoast” sort of office geek and winds up making me suspicious that he is former CIA or something equally as capable! Caught with a high powered rifle in his mitts immediately after the Chief of Police of Monaco is gunned down, and with no one understanding English nor wanting to, he finds himself on the run. The bad guys are all out to get him because there are millions at stake. Seems the movie Michael Cane is filming is only a front for money laundering for the French mob and he soon becomes part of the problem and the resolution. The Quicksand involves Keaton getting in deeper and deeper until he finds help from the very beautiful Judith Godreche’s character.
Begins slow but picks up speed and soon is a full on race to kill off any who know this particular movie business is the mob's dirty laundry !

Nice Change Of Pace For Two Great Stars!

"Thoroughly enjoyable film, great soundtrack, locations and story.
Miichael Keaton is well-cast as a mild-mannered excecutive whose life is sent into turmoil when he goes to investigate shady deals being made through his company. Michael Caine as always is superb and really has fun with his role as Movie Star Jake Mellows. The supporting cast is great and the plot is well written.
Note: Watch the featurette after you see the film."
A tightly directed and acted thriller

"QUICKSAND is a terrific action drama that wears a good script well acted by a strong cast headed by Michael Keaton and Michael Caine and well directed by fully in-control Director John Mackenzie. The topic of money laundering is particularly timely at this point in our history so gathering information about the ins and outs of this type of scam is apropos. Michael Keaton is an obsessive-compulsive American investigator sent to France in his role as investigator and ends up being setup as an accused assassin. He is forced into escape and into hiding until he uncovers the truth about the company under investigation (actually a porn industry) and with the help of a has-been actor (played superlatively by Michael Caine) finds a way out. The mechanisms for this good guy-bad guy chase and intrigue make for edge-of-the seat suspense. Not a great movie but certainly one of the better intrigue films greatly enhanced by a strong cast of supporting actors in excellent cameo roles. Recommended."

"It seems that not alot of people have watched this little gem of a film, by the number of reviews that it has...but I have to say, that with the likes of Michael Keaton and Michael Caine, this film delivered a great action movie!!! The script was in a nice tight package, and the actors took the parts well. It was one of those films that made me wonder what was going to happen next.

Not a bad time waster

"I bought this DVD because I'm a huge Michael Keaton fan. While he and Michael Caine are great in the movie, this just seems to be another ho-hum crime thriller. The acting is good, the story is okay, I don't think you ever really find yourself overly rooting for the bad guy. If it wasn't for the two main stars, you probably wouldn't watch."

"The movie itself? Not so good. Its a pretty predictable thriller that tends to drag itself on an on. While I will admit there are some interesting scenes, the movie really doesn't pick up until the very end when the music kicks in for the credits. Its just so haunting. Unfortunatly, I cannot say the same for the rest of the movie. To make a long story short, my opinion is if you do happen to decide to pick this movie up, don't expect greatness. Although Michael Keaton and Cane aren't bad in and of themselves, the rest of the movie is pure...well I leave the rest of the sentance up to you to decide."
