Surprisingly detailed plot with what must have been cutting edge science for the day. Special effects for the creature are quite good as well. Professor Quatermass himself seems to be both the antagonist and protagonist. He certainly doesn't fit the mold of heroic scientist given his dialogue and how often he seems dismissive of those around him. Many concepts of this film would continue to be used decades later in very popular film and TV shows - the genre of 'body horror' is certainly seminal.
