This is not the "entire" series but well worth viewing because apparently that's all we get! And at approximately 14 hours running time there is quite a lot on these four disks. I look at this as a "best of" and thoroughly enjoyed every minute! Family values and some high quality writing (by John Masius the co-creator of Touched By an Angel who also exec produced St. Elsewhere)gives us some great television!

I noticed the listing says this is 1 hour long. Whoa. It's 4 discs full. This production is poignant, sweet, deep & beautifully crafted. I watched the entire series when it was aired on TV. I feel like this collection really captured the feeling & intensity of the series, & am so grateful this collection was compiled. Absolutely fantastic show.

"Providence is a show that portrays the trials of the Hansen family and how they dealt with it. The main character, Sydney Hansen (Melina Kanakaredes) was a doctor in cosmetic surgery but after leaving Los Angeles where she practiced, she worked in a low-income medical clinic in her hometown of Providence. At home, she lives with her father (Mike Farrel), her brother Robbie (Seth Peterson), her sister Joanie (Paula Cale), and the spirit of her deceased mother (Concetta Tomei) who passes away in the first episode.Episodes are as follows:

Series two-hour finale; Syd prepares to embark on a new life with Owen until a hostage situation at the ER threatens her marital bliss. This show won my heart the first time I ever saw it and I was a dedicated fan until it ended in 2002. I, like any other fan of the show, was sad to see it go but nothing lasts forever. I recommend buying this DVD. It has 12 of the better episodes of this series. Hopefully someday in the future, someone will put together the entire series on DVD.P.S. If you want to watch all the old episodes of Providence, watch Lifetime. It aires at 1:00pm and 8:00pm."
The Providence Collection~Somewhat Disappointing

"The episodes included in this set are good ones, but I would prefer a whole season. The most disappointing aspect of the set is that the original theme song isn't used as the intro to each episode! I felt cheated as the theme was such an integral part of the series."

"I just wanted to say that I love Providence. It was my favorite show. This DVD was great, but it was only a Best OF. I wish they release every season. This DVD was great, but it would be even better if they would release all of the seasons."
Please release the entire series on DVD

"This show was, and continues to be quality TV. To release only certain episodes from individual seasons is to not offer this delightful program its due justice. I'll no doubt purchase this DVD, but I'll never be satisfied until I am able to view every episode over and over again."
The Hansen Family's Life: Not Always Smooth, But Never Dull

"I ordered this DVD a week ago and received it today- one day after the DVD was released. Can you imagine how happy I was!!! First of all, the DVD box got me excited....It featured beautiful pictures (some of which I have never seen before) Each disc features a picture of the cast. The DVD comes with a small booklet with a letter from John Masius, the creator of the show. The letter was very touching, and you get a lump in your throat when you read it. The booklet also describes each episode. For those of you who are disapointed that the Theme song wasn't featured before each episode, I recommend that you buy the Providence soundtrack: It features 2 versions of "In My Life" and if you recall, the last episode of Season 5 of Providence titled "The Eleventh Hour", featured "In My Life" by Chantal Kreviazuk at the end of the episode. Kudos to Lion's Gate Entertainment and all the other people involved in making the Providence DVD dream become a reality."
