I loved this movie. I went into it with very low expectations, but the performances by Barrymore and Gilbert are outstanding, as is the script. Very entertaining and provocative film. If you are one of the many who only think of Drew as a star in the cheery romantic comedies she did in the nineties, you need to watch this movie, it will blow you away. It's the height of Drew Barrymore in her bad girl phase, and worlds away from anything she is doing now.

Dangreous and Hot

"Ivy is the new, crazy girl in school. Sylvie is the lonesome, geeky, rich girl. Once Ivy and Sylvie meet, they become pretty good pals. Sylvie invites her to ride home, she also invites Ivy into her house. She was making a deadly mistake.
Anyone can tell that something is definitely odd about Ivy, but she is charming to anyone around her. Sylvie's sick mother is always depressed, but when Ivy comes along, Sylvie's mother starts to love Ivy. Sylvie's dad is really starting to get closer to Ivy, too. But Sylvie herself starts to regret the day that she talked to Ivy, because Ivy is starting to ruin her life. But Ivy wants to stay in Sylvie's house, and whatever Ivy wants, Ivy gets.
This movie was really entertaining throughout the whole thing, and it always kept you wondering what horrible thing that the misuderstood Ivy was going to do next. You were always trying to understand Ivy, wanting to know more about this strong character. This movie was chilling and definitely sexy, and overall, it's a good film."

"The first of the "Poison Ivy" movies, were DrewBarrymore shines in her role as Ivy. New Line did it again this is agreat DVD it has the unrated and the R-rated versions of the movie and both in Full Screen and Widescreen versions. Othere than that and the Original trailer there is nothing intresting in the DVD. Some Commentary would have been great but I guess you don't get everything in life. If you like Drew Barrymore then Buy it its great.(took off one start 'cuse there is no Commentary)"
A Coup D'Etat for Katt Shea Ruben and Drew Barrymore!

"Multi-talented, but heretofore little-known, director Katt Shea Ruben scored a brilliant, sudden and unusually highly successful stroke of genius in this highly erotic thriller about an under-privileged girl, newly admitted to a posh private school. Drew Barrymore brilliantly portrays Ivy, a sexy, street-wise and lethal Lolita that will do anything to fit in. Sara Gilbert portrays Cooper, a rich, smart, but misunderstood young feminist in search and need of a friend. Through Cooper, Ivy is ushered into a privileged world, and is instantly intrigued. Cooper's father (Tom Skerritt) is a handsome TV newscaster; her mother (Cheryl Ladd) is a beautiful Beverly Hills wife. Yet tensions in the home run deep, providing license for malice that Ivy is quick to seize. With one quick seduction, Ivy sets off a chain reaction that makes 'Poison Ivy' one of the most provocative and erotic films, of the erotic thriller genre, filmed to date. If you somehow missed this gem, give it a look soon. It is one of those very rare films you can enjoy again and again! Excellent!"
Not the Actual Plant!

"I received a full case of extra-strength calamine lotion for my birthday recently, and decided to give it a test run. I wouldn't want to be doused in some topical irritant or caught in a crazy mild eczema emergency and not know how much to apply!
I purchased this item on the basis of poison ivy's long-standing reputation as a reliable itch inducer. Sadly, I failed to realize that the product is not, in fact, clippings and leaves of the famous plant, but rather a popular film of similar title. Rubbing the DVD and the case on various body parts failed to provide the mild itch I was hoping for, so I tried watching the movie instead. Sure enough, within ten minutes my skin started to crawl -- but where exactly do I apply the calamine to relieve it? I practically bathed in the stuff, and still the creepiness remains. I'm beginning to think my lotion is past the sell date."

"Sara Gilbert (from TV's "Roseanne") plays Cooper, a lonley teenager who befriends the new wild girl in school, Ivy, (Drew Barrymore). The two become best friends and Ivy eventually moves in with her. But Ivy isnt what she seems to be. Her sweet personality is only a mask covering her darker, evil side. Ivy has a plan to throw their friendship away and destroy Cooper's life. She starts by seducing her father, murdering her mother, and literally stealing Cooper's life from her. Once Cooper realizes whats shes up to, she tells her to get lost. But Ivy isnt about to go anywhere. An Edge Of The Seat Thriller!"
