"Chichester was the english town were Petula Clarks father was born. In her löong career, the year 1978 was the first time Petula appeared in Chichester. She was in best-voice, best-looking and perfomed standards and extraordinary songs. But, whatever she sang in this show - it was art! Her singing is the best in the world, I think. Better than Streisand, better than Celine Dion. In this show you will find the wonder of Petulas clear and strong voice and a brillant technical singing. You can't do wrong buying this DVD. Hear and see the high quality of an international singing star, that was once the Girl who sang "Downtown"."
A Little Disappointed

"I have always enjoyed Petula Clark since her introduction into the States with "Downtown". "Don't Sleep In The Subway" is my all time favorite. Neither are included in this concert. About 40% of the music is more of an MTV video musical rather than an actual concert. If that is the way the "Concert" was actually aired on the BBC New Year's Eve I think that should have been mentioned.
I would give less than 4 stars except that the actual portions of the concert are so brilliant that I can't.
If you want to see Petula at her best live, even if it is a brief glimpse, this has some great moments.
Someday I hope someone will release the entire concert. If they do I'll buy it."
Happy New Year From Petula

"I was a bit dubious about prchasing this dvd, but I am glad I did! This concert, a New Year's celebration from 1978 took place during one of the few periods in Petula's career where she had some down time. She semi-retired from 1978-80 and only did a few appearances during that time. This show obviously meanta lot to Petula, and it shows. Her performance of each song is perfection. The two stand out tracks for me are On With the Show, a great autibiographical tune and I've Just Begun, sung with great emotion. There is voice over narration that is a bit heavy handed. However it does not take detract from Petula's marvelous performance. This is not for completists only. This dvd should be in the collection of everyone who cares about good singing."
