Few movies can take the end of the world and make it a comedy, but Night of the Comet is enjoyable from start to finish. Never taking itself too seriously, nor trying too hard to be intellectual, this is a must see for fans of the zombie apocalypse genre. Sure, the movie never explains how city electricity keeps running, but hey, most of these movies never do - even the so-called 'realistic' ones. A few seemingly throw-away lines of dialogue about the girls' dad teaching them combat skills goes a long way toward making this film more plausible than it should be - many, many movies could be greatly improved by taking a few lessons about scripting from Night of the Comet. Very economical, fast-moving, and consistent throughout.
