Nick Knight is the pilot episode of the television series Forever Knight. In this tryout, the part of Nick is played not by Geraint Wynn Davies, but pop idol Rick Springfield...And to good effect. While Davies made the role his own and brought heart to the troubled vampire, Springfield brought a gothic pathos to Knight that was an excellent precursor to the 1990's vampire invasion. Nick Knight is the story of a vampire whose has lived down the ages from the Crusades and is seeking a cure to his affliction. Standing in his way is his "creator" and mentor, La Croix, a monstrous vampire who feeds not only on the blood of his victims, but also their suffering. An ancient goblet has appeared at a museum that holds the key to returning a vampire to mortal form. It is stolen and a security guard murdered for it. But was this done by Nick, La Croix, or a mysterious third party? Homeless around the city have been dying and it's not La Croix' M.O. Can Nick discover the murderer while also dealing with a sleazy new partner, an attractive museum curator, and his own past? If you're a fan of the tv series Forever Knight, this is a must-have . Yes, it's more like an alternate reality than the actual start of the show, but you get to see the similarities and the differences and that is fun! Nick's partner Schenke is played by the same actor from the show, but his love interest pathologist from the show is a nerdy guy in this one. And La Croix is not the smooth, suave master vampire, but a beastly thug. On a sidenote, the first two-part episodes from the series is the same story as this...just with the new actors.
