"Let me just preface this by saying that Arcade Fire is tied for being my favorite band.
Miroir Noir itself is very interesting look at the band. It's more an experiment in film making than a documentary about the making of the album, which had me pleasantly surprised. Also don't expect an extended concert video either. You will just get fragments of something before it moves on to the next thing. Personally, I love this, as it is done very carefully. For example, towards the beginning, you will see the band playing Black Mirror for a minute or two until everything but the violins fade out and the scene changes. I find this very stylish and fun to watch, but it may not float everyone's boat. Just keep that in mind when purchasing.
While you will find music from both albums here (including a very powerful live rendition of "Wake Up" towards the beginning), it's almost exclusively music from Neon Bible. I don't remember hearing anything from the EP.
The editing is very well done, but it won't be breaking new ground for many viewers. There are sections where you will be watching brief live performances, recording of the songs, and sometimes just music overlaying fitting images.
If you aren't familiar with Arcade Fire, then I can't imagine why you would want this. But fans of the band will love to see this. Its definitely one of the coolest music DVDs I own.
As far as the Limited Edition features are concerned, the case is BEAUTIFUL. I am so glad I got this one, despite the extra cost. It opens like an accordion to reveal colorful art and is just plain cool to look at. If fancy cases aren't enough for you, then the bonus DVD featuring live performances should be.
All in all, Arcade Fire fans will go crazy over this DVD. If you are not one of these people, then I don't know why you are still reading anyway.
