ITV British period television drama about the life of 'Women's Institute' members on the Home Front during WWII. The series was inspired by the book 'Jambusters' by Julie Summers. Show was canceled after two seasons, although the author has written another book tying up all the storylines. I found this quite engaging. It details the many ways that women stepped up to the plate when most of the men were off to war. And the definite stresses they were put under as a result. Another facet, I think really my favorite part of this series is the depiction of a controlling, abusive marriage. So many scenes which really get one's dander up. The self control the house wife displays under such provocation is extraordinary. Also nice to see the entrancing Francesca Annis still in the profession. She's had quite the diverse career, which includes some well known Science fiction. In her younger days she quite resembles my first wife, and I often find myself in a double take.
