Cute graphics and songs. You'll love it if you like Mary Engelbreit. Extra includes interview with author/artist. Even my 8-year old boy thought it was sweet.

A grumpy fairy tries to thwart Christmas by casting a wicked spell to deter Santa from delivering gifts to the children, but as usual the hero (a talking mouse)intervenes and saves the day, and the spell is revoked by the beautiful Queen Fairy. Santa is safe! Filled with campy little songs, messages of being brave, fighting for whats right, not giving up, learning the true meaning of Christmas, and ending with the characters reading the traditional poem, your kids will like it. By no means is it Rudolph or the Grinch, but it has its entertainment value for the little ones. I give it three stars and would paly it for 4-8 year olds.

Excellent, Sweet Video

"I really enjoyed the video version of The Night Before Christmas. I can see this being a family tradition to watch each year. I got goosebumps when I saw the opening scene of the "mouse's house" - It really looked like the book! I was surprised, especially with the 3D animation. I also really enjoyed the Behind the Scenes bonus materials - especially the Meet Mary section. I"m a big fan and my sons thought it was neat to see Mary in person. The package said the video was only 23 minutes, but I think it's more like an hour with all the extra features. I really loved it and think Mary should be proud!"
Excellent Holiday Tradition

"Just got a copy of Mary Engelbreit's The Night Before Christmas DVD! As a huge fan of Ms Engelbreit's art for years, I'm excited to see that she is not only into children's books, but animation as well. The DVD is FANTASTIC. The songs are great and the characters are adorable. My little girl is delighted with the Elliester fairy character and wants a doll just like her right away! Kudos to the Engelbreit team for making something special for kids."

"This is a wonderrful movie for little kids. It looks like a child's storybook of The Night Before Christmas magically brought to life, and the artwork is adorable. My six little grandchildren--ages 2-8--burst into giant smiles when the movie first began and never took their eyes off the screen.
The kids were totally enchanted by the endearing little mouse who sets off across the snowy forest to save Christmas. And the storyline kept them enthralled. At one point in the movie, the little mouse is lost and scared, whereupon a little girl fairy appears and encourages him on through a song, "Don't ever give up." The kids instantly got the message and have been singing the song ever since!
The movie is full of the joy and magic of Christmas. And for giving a child the dream of Christmas, it's a gem!"
