Learning to love her luscious self over the past forty years, comedian Margaret Cho realized that the eye of the beholder doesn't hold all the power when it comes to beauty. Our tastes may be groomed by the media, but how ... more »we feel about how we look brings our self-image into focus. Armed with something more potent than lip gloss -- a mouth so shocking and raunchy it should be stamped with a warning. Cho toured America with her manifesto: "This show is really about how we should feel beautiful,"" says Cho. When you feel beautiful, you're going to have more of a willingness to use your voice to speak. Shot at the Long Beach Terrace Theater, Cho's latest stand-up concert film, Beautiful, explores the good, bad, and downright ugly in beauty, and the unattractive politicians and marketers who shape our world.« less
"I saw this tour 3 times (the last night I saw her she was very sick, but still soldiered on and gave a great performance) and it is her funniest yet. Margaret might not be for everyone and that's perfectly fine. However condemning a comic for being "shrill" or "mean" is absolutely ludicrous. Margaret is a champion for human rights and she is only mean to the stupid people that deserve her wrath.
If you like any of her past performances then this DVD will make you very happy."
She's funny and smart (as usual)

"Fantastic. She is clever, subtle, then in your face funny. Fantastic DVD as always."
If you don't mind the vulgarity of her jokes, I think this i

"What attracted me to her was her first stand-up movie "I'm the Want That I want." Margaret is someone who isn't afraid of making fun of herself and managed to transform her curiosity in life and her past failure into something that is vulgar, hilarious, and outrageous. On top of it all, most of her shows have an undertone of self-loving, self appreciation message. Her stand-up movies following her first successful movies, in my opinion, failed to capture her talent and fell a bit flat and overtly crude. BUT.... "Beautiful" is probably her best one so far. I can understand some people find her jokes can be offensive... but again, most Americans can be overtly sensitive and somewhat too uptight when it comes to sexuality and cultures.
Beautiful is wonderfully done. Margaret managed to keep the flow of her jokes moving from one topic to the next. My friends and I laughed so hard that we had a hard time finding time to breath. Her jokes are shameless, but you can't help laughing at them. She tackles a little bit on political scandals and mostly her journey wanting to be recognized as beautiful. I find her sense of humor refreshing. I don't cuss and I consider myself spiritual, but I don't mind vulgarity and jokes on religions. If you do, then you may want to reconsider watching this movie. Otherwise, with an open mind, I guarantee you'll have a blast.
Warning: if you are a republican who worships Sarah Palin, you may not want to watch this."
